family heirloom
Several years ago my aunty told us a story about a family heirloom handed down through the female lineage.
A hand carved ring from either a branch of an apple tree or an oak tree from the hometown near Reading, England. She carved it while travelling from England to Australia in 1861.
Fast forward several years, we travel to meet another relative, the current custodian of the ring, with intent to connect and lend the ring to take a mold and cast the ring. The relative agreed and I've set to learn and work casting skills and cast the heirloom into metal.
I made contact with adi b. for assistance and guidance so I could channel my ancestor, cast the ring and whilst connecting with my ancestry and continuing a family history of making and embracing my father’s and his fathers, and his fathers metalsmithing skills.
Add story of post one on one with Adi B.
